Christ is Risen!

On Bright Monday, 21st of April, with the blessing of our bishop, His Eminence Metropolitan Silouan, we celebrated the Paschal Vigil at our parish to mark the Feast of Feasts – the Resurrection of our Lord. It was a great joy to see so many faithful in attendance. At the end of the service, everyone received dyed Paschal eggs and traditional Greek Paschal sweets, koulourakia, lovingly prepared by the ladies of our parish. We thank them for their love and effort.

At the beginning of the service, Fr Dmitry blessed a new set of four icons for the iconostasis. During his pastoral visit in November, Sayidna Silouan had noted the need to replace the worn-out old icons. With his support, and with the help of Gabi in Latakia, Syria, we were able to source four high-quality digital images of Byzantine icons in the same style. These were printed and embedded onto wood in a London print shop by Wadih, who often assists our cathedral community with printing needs. The icons were then shipped to Belfast and mounted on the iconostasis by our altar server Carsten, using hooks provided by our parishioner Georgina.

What a beautiful collective effort by so many to make our temple more beautiful! Thank you all for your hard work and love!

Wishing you all a blessed remainder of Bright Week!
